“OUT AND ABOUT” TRIPS
Join our club and participate in community outings. Open to all ages, families and friends. No cost to join. Activities usually cost $3 for transportation and admission. Past events have included trips to Atlanta Falcons, Hawks and Thrashers games, Disney and High School Musical on Ice, the Circus, Atlanta zoo, and others! Receive regular emails about upcoming activities.

SHOPPING/FOOD COURT
Power shoppers unite! We'll invade a local shopping center to find the best after holiday sales! After some vigorous shopping, we'll refresh ourselves with dinner at the food court, share our bargains and plan our final shopping.

PIZZA/MOVIE
What's better than a movie and pizza with friends? We'll get together and watch a video movie while enjoying a pizza dinner. Fun, food and friends.

“XTREME SCENE” SOCIAL CLUB
This group is for persons with disabilities who want to make friends and share trips to different activities. Want to be in charge, do things you want to do, and plan exciting activities? Then join the Social Club and decide on outings with other friends. We'll meet monthly and You'll plan the next month's outing from member ideas! Maybe we'll go to camping, a concert, miniature golf or ?????

TEEN SCENE SUMMER CAMP
Don't waste your summer watching re-runs of Gilligan's Island! Here's your chance to see old friends, socialize with new ones, learn new skills and savor the sunny days of summer! We'll enjoy sports and games, swimming, music, dance, cooking, art, field trips and surprises planned by the group. For Teenagers ages 13-19 and 20-21 if still in school

ROCKDALE CARES VALENTINE DANCE
Bring your sweetheart or come alone for our annual Valentine Dance Prom.

TV SPORTS AND DINNER
We're going to a restaurant to have dinner and watch some sports. Wear your lucky sport jersey and talk “sports” with new and old friends!

DANCE CLUB
Put on your best pair of dancing shoes and show off your dancing moves! We're going out to a dance club for the latest dance tunes. Whether you dance every song or enjoy socializing at the table, we'll have a fun time.

GIRL'S EXPLORATION CLUB
Participate with other girls 16 and older with special needs in exploring activities unique to women's interests. We'll get together and make friends hanging out, going places, sharing interests and discovering new experiences together.

“TOUCH A TRUCK” TRIP
All kids and many adults love big machines and things with wheels. Well here's your chance to get up close and personal with some heavy machinery, police, fire and rescue vehicles! Bring your camera and be Police Officer, Fireman or Bob the Road Builder.

ATLANTA ZOO
Enjoy all the goings on at the Zoo in the crisp Spring temperatures when the animals are most active. Check out the new additions to the zoo including lion cubs and the baby panda bear! We'll check out the fascinating animals, reptiles and birds and have a picnic (bring your own or buy at the zoo restaurant) lunch at the zoo.

SUPER BINGO
We'll have a great time trying to win the fabulous prizes and being the first to yell “BINGO”. Everyone will bring one small prize from home and Therapeutic Recreation will provide a few special prizes. Any way you're sure to have a good time and come home with something.

ROCKDALE CARES SPRING DANCE
Be the most colorful and beautiful Flower in the garden this Spring at the Rockdale Cares Garden Party and Dance. Let's usher in Spring dressed as your favorite beautiful flowers (on a dress, in your hair, on your shirt, on your hat, etc.) We'll be the best dressed in the garden.

DINNER AND MOVIE NIGHT
We will meet at Carmike Cinema to take in a first run flick and then walk over to Applebee's restaurant to enjoy a dinner with friends.

POWER SOCCER
Join this fast growing sport for people who use power wheelchairs. Learn the basics of game strategy and competition against other power chair users and be part of the team fellowship and practices. We will be determining a practice site and schedule.

WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL
We're starting a recreational team to learn wheelchair basketball skills and play games against other teams. Sport wheelchairs will be available for persons with mobility limitations. Able-bodied friends and siblings welcome to play also!

CHEERLEADING
Come out and learn how to cheer for our adapted sports teams. Be part of the action leading the crowd in different cheers.

ADULT SPORTS SPECTACULAR
Join our group of active adults enjoying learning and playing different sports and active games. No skill or experience required just good sportsmanship and fun with others. We'll try soccer, golf, basketball, goal ball, whiffel ball, and others.

WATER AEROBICS AND EXERCISE
Work out in a relaxed, low impact water setting. Swimming ability not required. Enjoy moving to the music and joking with the instructor and the other participants while you tone and develop all your body's muscles. Orientated toward long term benefits and lifestyle, not quick loss results

BOWLING LEAGUE
We had so much fun at our last Family Bowling Night, people wanted to form a recreational league. So come with a partner or be put on a two-person team that night. We'll keep record of what team's leading, the most improved team and other awards. We'll have ramps for bowlers with physical limitations and orientation devices for blind/low vision bowlers.
Come one, come all!

WHEELCHAIR TENNIS
This class will develop and teach basic skills necessary to enjoy wheelchair tennis. Wheelchair tennis is the fastest growing adapted sport and for good reason it's a blast!! You can play at your neighborhood park or travel internationally for elite play. All you need is a racquet and balls and a desire to have a good time! Wheelchairs available to those who need them.

TENNIS FOR ALL
This class is for individuals who want to have fun learning or getting better at playing tennis. Whether you want to be a skilled player or just hit the ball with friends, this group is for you!

DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING
We will introduce you to the amazing world of scuba diving for persons with disabilities. Program will be led by experienced instructors trained to teach special needs scuba diving. Basic equipment will be demonstrated and you can try out some in pool diving equipment under the watchful eye of certified dive instructors with experience teaching persons with special needs. Activity will be conducted in our indoor pool with maximum depth of 5 feet.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS JUNIORS SWIM TRAINING
This is an introductory swim group for 8 year olds through middle school kids who want to start competing in Special Olympics swimming events.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS COMPETITIVE SWIM TEAM
This is a training group for swimmers that want to compete in Special Olympics meets and qualify for the state games.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS MASTERS SWIM TRAINING
This group is open to individuals 22 years and older. We will train for Special Olympics meets and to qualify for the State Games.

MASTERS TRACK AND FIELD
Come join Masters Age participants, 22 years of age and older, as we work out. This activity will practice different running and field events leading to a local track and field competition. Activity will emphasize individual development and recreational participation.

SPECIAL OLYMPIC BASKETBALL FOR ALL
We'll practice some skills and break up into teams to play recreational games. Get some exercise, meet new friends and perfect your jump shot!
Emphasis will be on basketball play and individual success.

MASTERS BOWLING
Do you like making lots of noise throwing hard objects and knocking things down? Come join Masters Age participants, 22 years of age and older as we develop your skill as a bowler extraordinaire. Special adapted ramp equipment, if needed, will be provided. Experienced instructors will help you learn the game and increase your score.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS GOLF
Whether you've never hit a golf ball or you are a regular on the links, join our group as we learn the basics of golf. We'll practice driving, putting, the short game and learn golf rules.

ROCKDALE SPECIAL OLYMPIC TRACK AND FIELD MEET
This meet is open to all Rockdale County Special Olympians. Competition will be held in various running events and field events including long jump, softball throw, and others. Both standing and wheelchair divisions will be offered.

COMMUNITY FAIR ON DISABILITY RESOURCES
Come visit with representatives of schools and agencies who provide services for individuals with disabilities (ages 0-22). Sponsored by the Newton, Rockdale Interagency Coordinating Council, Newton Rockdale Interagency Transition Council, ASPIRE, and the Newton Rockdale Navigator Team

BASIC SIGN LANGUAGE
Instructed by Cindy Peters, who has twenty years of experience and is fluent in sign language. Focus will be on basic signs and communication. You will gain practical experience with the opportunity to sign with someone who is deaf. Upon completion, you will have basic signing ability and receive a certificate.
