"Bringing Non-profits, Corporations, Governments, and all citizens of Rockdale County together to enrich the lives of Special Needs people and their families through recreation." In the summer of 2004,
nine independent organizations came together in Rockdale County Georgia
with a common belief that by working together in a collaborative
relationship they could improve access to recreation and social activities
for the special needs population and provide more opportunities. We chose
the name ASPIRE because: We ultimately
ASPIRE to include all Special Needs
people in the life of Rockdale County through
recreation/social activities and programs.

To accomplish this, we are continuously expanding the ASPIRE Program that consist of a variety of recreation and social activities coupled with different communication channels to inform the public as to what is available. The ASPIRE Program is designed to:
B) Promote sports training, social and life skills development, potential job skills development, along with a greater sense of independence and self esteem through participation and interaction in recreation activities and programs. Also, due to the nature of the supervised elements of the program, we provide a respite-like break for the families of Special Needs people. Initial populations to be served under this agreement shall include Special Needs people, 6 years old through active elderly adults, who are independent enough to participate in recreation activities and programs without one on one supervision, throughout Rockdale County Georgia.
